Who are we

55 degrees North Coaching is built in the West of Scotland, shaped by grit, and grounded in one simple belief:

Showing up changes everything.

I’m Jonathan, a coach who’s big on doing things properly. I’m a Level 3 Personal Trainer with a Degree and HND in Sport & Exercise Science (Applied Physiology and Psychology), and I coach people online and in person to get stronger, fitter, and more confident in their bodies, without turning training into another source of stress.

I’ve spent years in the corporate world, so I know what “busy” really looks like. Long days. Constant pressure. Not enough time. And the feeling you should be doing something for yourself… but you’re knackered before you even start. Therefor my coaching isn’t about perfection or punishment.

It’s about building strength that fits real life.

What We Do

At 55°N Coaching, we work with anyone who’s ready to put the work in whether you’re brand new to training, getting back into it, or levelling up your performance.

My coaching is especially helpful if you’re:

  • rebuilding after burnout, stress, or a rough patch

  • in your 40s and juggling work, family, life, and everything in between

  • thinking about long-term health and want to stay strong into retirement and beyond

No matter where you’re starting from, we’ll build your fitness with a plan that’s tailored, progressive, and realistic.

How I Coach

I’m not here to shout at you or throw random workouts at you for the sake of it.

I coach with structure, accountability, and probably too much bad humour, because sometimes you need a laugh.

You’ll get training that’s:

  • simple to follow

  • based on science and solid programming

  • built around your schedule

  • progressive without breaking you

  • focused on strength, mobility, conditioning, and confidence

Some weeks you’ll feel like a machine. Other weeks you’ll just need to keep the wheels on. Both count. The goal is consistency and lasting habits

What 55°N Stands For

55°N is where I’m based, but it’s also a mindset.

It represents the northern edge, resilience, graft, and the quiet confidence which comes from doing the work even when motivation disappears.

This is coaching for people who want to feel proud of themselves again.

Not just for how they look, but for what they can do.
